Bizzarrini Car

Giotto Bizzarrini whom at the age of 27 graduated from the university of Pisa with a degree in engineering. He then joined Alfa Romeo where he not only helped develop cars but also became a test driver of those cars. He left Alfa in 1957 to join Ferrari where he worked for 5 years developing their cars. Bizzarrini was an exceptional engineer in that he worked on chassis, engines and aerodynamics, his pinnacle being the 1962 250 GTO.

Leaving Ferrari in late 1961, to produce a Bizzarrini car, he founded Società Autostar. This allowed him the freedom to work for different clients. It was in 1964 he founded Prototipi Bizzarrini S.R.L. to make a Bizzarrini car that would bear his name. The company name was changed in 1966 to Bizzarrini S.p.A. A number of shapely designs were produced but sadly the financial figures were not so pretty and in 1969 the company went bankrupt.

In 2020 the brand rights were picked up with hopes of developing a new model to bear the Bizzarrini mark. The new model has been fittingly called the Giotto, and is currently in development.

Giotto Bizzarrini passed away on May 13th 2023 at the age of 96. One of the last from the golden age of Italian sports cars.
